“11” – Remembrance Day 2014 at Falaise Park

A solo trumpet calls out toward the mountains over the southern-most section of Falaise Park; 11 brass instruments, each representing a fallen soldier or veteran of the World Wars, respond from stations down the hillside, their answers coming together to create a unique musical experience for those standing near or moving through the musicians.

Composer Mark Haney and artist Diane Park were inspired to create this beautiful, site-specific work to celebrate the history of Falaise Park and the Renfrew Heights neighbourhood that surrounds it, as well as to mark our respect for those who fought on our behalf. Housing around the park was built in 1948 to house veterans of World War II.
