All Souls 2015 – The 5th Stage

Celebration Hall at Mountain View Cemetery

Friday, October 30. Performances at 7:00, 8:00 and 9:00 pm

As Part of All Souls at Mountain View Cemetery, The Little Chamber Music Series presents the world premiere of Joelysa Pankanea’s The 5th Stage.

We commissioned Jessie Award-winning composer Joelysa Pankanea to write a cycle of songs without words for All Souls, and asked that it be related to the death of her father when she was 14. The result is The 5th Stage; five haunting songs that examine the five stages of grief with no words, for five instruments and soprano, with a synchronized video installation. Performances are 20 minutes in duration.

Performers: Dory Hayley (soprano), Molly MacKinnon (violin), Mark McGregor (alto flute), Marina Hasselberg (cello), Mark Haney (double bass), Joelysa Pankanea (percussion), and video installation by Diane Park.
