Molly MacKinnon
Artistic Director
Molly MacKinnon (she/her) is an award-winning violinist and collaborative artist based on the unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples. As a creator and concert presenter, she is particularly interested in interdisciplinary cross-pollination, expanding audience access to classical and new music, and amplifying the voices of underrepresented composers, musicians, and artists.
Recent projects include Good Things To Do; a digital creation centered on technological intimacy and gentleness, Baba Yaga and the Magic Gallery; an interactive concert for kids performed by the Vancouver Island Symphony, and Never The Last; a concert/theatre hybrid based on 20th-century composer Sophie-Carmen Eckhardt-Gramatté, which in April 2022 toured to Toronto as part of Theatre Passe Muraille’s 2022/2023 season.
Molly is the co-creator of Concerts On Tap, a series that brings together Vancouver craft breweries and classical music, as well as the co-founder of Seagrass Music Society, which recently presented its 3rd annual iteration of The Piano Diaries, a summer concert series in which virtuosic concert pianists perform free concerts in parks around East Vancouver. Molly is a member of the Black Dog String Quartet: the group released its first full-length album A Thousand Times Brighter in April 2023.
